Why Digital?

5th July 2016

There’s no doubt in our minds that as a company grows, adding digital learning into the mix is a must.

Moving your training to a digital platform not only saves on printing and transport costs, frees up trainers and ensures consistency and quality throughout, it also makes the content updatable, searchable, measurable, targeted, engaging and interactive!

Lets take a closer look at each of those.

Once you’ve made the move to digital, content can be updated whenever you need it to be – either by a digital agency or using a content management system. No more reprinting when management changes or laws are updated. Monitoring use will allow you to update content intelligently based on what the users find the most useful or need the most help with.

Revisiting content is the best way to retain information, so creating content that can be easily searched creates a reference tool that users can rely on to give themselves the information they need as and when they need it (just-in-time learning), for example at a sales pitch.

Stats allow you to monitor performance from an individual to a national level, tracking test results and usage to more effectively manage your workforce, allowing you to see which users are spending the most time on each page or module, and updating content accordingly.

Unlike traditional one-size-fits-all learning, e-learning can be targeted to the individual based on job roles, learning needs or level of experience. You can also allow users to dig deeper or stay top-line and conditional navigation allows control over which areas must be explored before the user can move on.

Engaging the learner is a vital part of developing a motivated, well-informed workforce who will be ambassadors for your brand. Finding the fun in a task and using gamification (game-like elements in a non gaming environment), user-centred design and video content will move your training a million miles away from a simple powerpoint presentation.

Encouraging users to explore a page, uncovering more information, becoming involved in the story, choosing how scenarios end, and allowing users to meander down their own paths will ensure a memorable experience for your learner.

Although there’s no replacement for human interaction, moving your learning to a digital platform future-proofs your training and allows your trainers to focus on the meaningful interactions with an enthused and knowledgable team.
